Simikot, Humla, Nepal (Free Orthopaedic Surgical Camp)

Simikot is a town located in Humla District, Nepal. It is the administrative center of the district and serves as the starting point for many trekkers and travelers who want to explore the remote and pristine landscapes of the region.

Simikot is situated at an altitude of 2,919 meters (9,575 feet) and is surrounded by towering mountains and pristine forests. The area is known for its rich cultural heritage, including several ancient Hindu and Buddhist temples, and is considered to be one of the most remote and pristine regions in Nepal.

From Simikot, trekkers can visit several nearby attractions, including the holy Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar, which are considered to be sacred pilgrimage sites for both Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist communities. The trek to these sites is considered to be challenging and requires adequate preparation, including proper acclimatisation and a knowledgeable guide.
